We hired Emerald City for our wedding in June of 2019. We shopped around at different caterers and they all seemed very commercial. All they seemed to care about was money and business. Then we met Steve at Emerald City. From the moment we stepped in the door for a tasting we felt like friends/family. He made us feel comfortable, like we were old buddies catching up on life. He showed us he cared more about the people and the food and less about the bottom line. His priority was about us and our day. We had the most amazing food and service at our wedding. People kept coming up to us to talk about how great the food was. Especially the swedish meatballs. (Ok, I’ll admit, I’m a huge sucker for their swedish meatballs.) Even after the wedding, we stay in touch. He always asks how we are doing and how life and marriage is going. You can tell that we weren’t just another order number in his book. He even went out of his way to prepare swedish meatballs for our 1 month anniversary. Simply amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better caterer and good friend.

I began early to search for the right venue to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and college graduation. I hadn’t heard about Emerald City until my family experienced a terrible tragedy on April 11th, 2019, when my cousin Pedro Luis Colon was killed by a fugitive during a high-speed police chase. Pedro was on his way home from work and died instantly on 13th and Morgan, just down the street from Emerald City. As we gathered to try to console the family, we received a call from Steve Ozbolt (Oz). Steve, a complete stranger, called to express his condolences. But, it didn’t end there. He proceeded to explain how deeply troubled and touched he was with Pedro’s senseless death and wanted to do something for the family. Steve offered his restaurant for the memorial service. Steve then said that he would be providing food for the memorial service at no cost. Steve didn’t know at the time that Pedro, only 25, and his young family were just starting off and lived a simple life. Steve’s compassion and generosity left us in awe. After the beautiful memorial service, Oz called again. This time to inform the family that he would be donating all proceeds from his monthly Sunday brunch to help the family. Again, words cannot express our disbelief with such a selfless and generous gesture towards a complete stranger. After our beautiful experience with Emerald City (Steve and his family), it was clear to me that my husband’s celebration would be held at Emerald City and it too was wonderful. The food was great and the people are amazing.

When we decided we wanted a fall wedding, we thought it would be so fun to have a Thanksgiving theme! Oz and the team at Emerald City could not have been more amazing, from the tasting day to the end of the wedding reception. The food was delicious and was presented perfectly. They were also careful to be accommodating to dietary restrictions – they went out of their way to have a gluten-free pie for us! They helped to make our wedding day so special. Just as Oz says – we dreamed it, they did it!

As a bride, every little detail makes you crazy. But Steve and his team went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was perfect. Firstly, every single guest raved about our food—which is exactly what you want to hear!! Not to mention that when our day-of coordinator dropped the ball on little things (like linens for our food and cake tables, turning lights on/off in our dining room, and plates and forks for when we cut the cake), Steve and his team were always there with a solution to make our day seamless and perfect! Beyond that, they took it upon themselves to scope out the venue weeks before our event, completely unprompted! I cannot say enough great things about this company and their commitment to ensuring your special day is perfect.
